Cause of death - cancer
Max was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the nailbed by biopsy after having a toe removed, May 2005. There is no evidence that the cancer has spread, but I have taken him off of kibble for my own peace of mind.
Please, if you see any nail injuries, do not hesitate to go to the vet!
This was first noticed in March - it presented as a quick being torn out of the nail - the nail was intact. The nail eventually fell off, and the area would not heal. A trip to the vet is when I decided to be aggressive with an amputation of the entire toe rather than a nail biopsy.
