In 1994, I drove to Roanoke, Virginia, to get a black & rust pet male. I was allowed the pick of the two black males in the litter - one pup kept coming back to me, and so I was picked by the puppy rather than the other way around. That puppy rode in my lap all the way to my home in Richmond, VA, and was known as Max. He's the reason I'm still in Dobermans today.
In 1996, I wanted to get a red bitch. Max's sister, Seneca, was due to whelp, but there wasn't a red bitch in the litter. So, I drove to Pennsylvania and came back with the bitch that was known as Murf. I took her to our local Doberman club meeting, and Johnny Burch (Max-Fax) took a look at Murf and her pedigree - and said she needs to be shown. She picked up her first points, a three point major, Easter Sunday, 1998. At the Cavalier Doberman Pinscher Club specialty, All Hallows Eve, 1998, Murf went Winners for a five point major, and completed her AKC Championship. Murf was shown from first point to last by Sharon Marinelli of Sharjet Dobermans.
In 2000, Murf was bred to a dog I had traveled with and kept - Sharjet's Undeniable Max-Fax WAC. Wizard had everything I felt that Murf needed - and this outcross breeding produced five healthy puppies. I kept Ana, and co-owned her littersister, Lexy. The males were all sold on limited registration.
Both bitches from this litter, Ana & Lexy, became AKC Champions, and littermate Bradley was a CD. From this litter we also have San Rafael’s first Longevity Certified dogs - Ana LC-11D & Gipper LC-12D.
In 2003, Murf was bred once more, to CH Cambria's Irish Rebellion WAC. This linebreeding produced four puppies, and all four were shown. Harley is pointed, Georgia is major pointed, Diesel is singled out, needing only majors. Burch won several breeds from the classes over specials in route to her AKC Championship.
Burch is the first ROM for both Murf & Patrick.
In 2008, Murf’s daughter Georgia was bred to CH Hytymes Mountain Man LC-10D to continue the line. The name of lone bitch in the litter is Murphy, San Rafael’s To Hell ‘N Back. She may be black & rust, but she’s red at heart... Georgia is a CH producer thru “Ruger,” CH San Rafael’s The Enemy Below RE CGC CD ROM & “Murphy,” CH San Rafael’s To Hell‘N Back WAC.
In 2013...
Diesel, Georgia and Harley became Longevity Certified on June 12th, this made the Georgia x Panzer litter my first BFL (Bred For Longevity) Litter!
Murphy was bred to CH Manarjj’s Reason To Believe v Kettle Cove in July. This breeding produced one black dog, San Rafael’s One For The Money, “Dex”.
In 2014...
Dex won his first point from 9-12, and is working towards his NoseWork title. Dexter passed the ORT for Birch & Anise on 7/26/14, and earned his NW1 title on 12/6/14.
Harley & Georgia turned 11 on June 12th.
In 2015...
Dex earned his CA title on 01/17/15, his NW2 title on 04/22/15, his URO1 title on 05/10/15, his WAC on 05/23/15, his RN title on 6/21/15 and his DJ on 9/6/15.
Ruger earned his UCDX title on 05/10/15.
Harley & Georgia turned 12 on June 12th.
Dex went to NADD at Eukanuba in December.
In 2016...
Dex went to BMCA and placed 6th in Seniors, NADD on 5/16. He earned his USJ at Dominion Riverrock on 5/22, his DS on 6/4 and his DSA on 7/2.
Georgia turned 13 on June 12.
Dex will be going back to Orlando for NADD at Eukanuba in December.
Georgia turned 13.5 on December 12.
Dex earned his DSX and 2017 Eukanuba invite in Orlando. He also spent time at the Meet The Breeds booth.
In 2017...
Dex earned his USEJ at Dominion Riverrock on 5/21, his DM on 6/25.
Georgia turned 14 on June 12.
Dex went to NADD Royal Canin in December. He also spent time at the Meet The Breeds booth.
In 2018...

Dex earned his SEN on 3/4, his CAA on 4/29, his SCN on 6/24, his SIN on 6/24, his SBN on 6/24, his SWN on 6/24, and his SIA on 7/14.
Georgia turned 15 on 6/12.
The Bogie-Bacall litter turned 10 on 8/4.
Dex turned 5 on 8/31.
Dex earned his NW3-E & NW3-V on 9/9, and his SEA & SCA on 9/29.
Dex started tracking.
In 2019...
“The Year of the Nose” continued.
Dex earned his NW3-C on 1/20. Dex earned his SBA & SWA on 2/24. Dex earned his SEE & SCE on 9/7 and his SIE on 9/8.
Dex earned his NW3-I on 11/9.
In 2020...
“The Year of the Nose” continued,
Dex earned his his first Q towards his NW3 title on 11/7 with a 3rd place overall. Dex earned his NW3 on 11/22.
In 2021...
